Senior Principal Systems & Controls Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States; office environment required

Salary: $150,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, configure, test, document, and support distributed control systems, digital safety systems, and plant performance monitoring systems.
• Program and integrate PLCs, DCS, SCADA computers, third-party hardware and software, field devices, and data acquisition systems.
• Lead engineering design, construction, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing support for nuclear power systems.
• Assign and supervise engineering teams, coordinate resources, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery quality, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Review and approve engineering documents, drawings, reports, customer deliverables, requirements, and formal system test documentation.
• Support customer meetings, proposals, technical presentations, supplier selection, design reviews, and process improvement activities.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status is required because of the export-controlled and nuclear nature of the work.
• 10+ years of engineering experience and 2+ years leading engineering teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience with PLC and DCS programming and design, SCADA equipment, instrumentation, field devices, analog and digital circuits, data acquisition systems, networks, and AC/DC wiring.
• Ability to lead work and manage others, develop proposals, create conceptual designs for complex systems, and produce clear technical documentation.
• Ability to work occasional non-regular hours and travel domestically and internationally less than 10%.

Nice to have

• Equipment layout, panel design, VLAN planning, network switch configuration, and basic routing experience.
• Experience with CAD tools such as Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD and Microsoft Windows Server.
• Experience with Visual Studio C/C++, C#, real-time application development, and Windows system management.
• Experience performing formal software and hardware integration testing and creating system test procedures.
