Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (Nuclear)

Salary: $144,000–$176,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, commission, and maintain PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, batch control, and safety instrumented systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.
• Develop ISA-88 batch sequences, recipe management, alarm systems, historian infrastructure, and enterprise integrations with MES, ERP, and LIMS.
• Engineer, size, specify, calibrate, and commission field instrumentation, including flow, pressure, temperature, and level devices.
• Implement industrial communication protocols and support OT cybersecurity hardening for control systems.
• Execute FAT, SAT, loop checks, interlock testing, control loop tuning, and commissioning activities.
• Lead complex I&C projects, provide technical direction to contractors, troubleshoot faults, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of I&C or controls engineering experience in process industries, including ownership of complex projects from design through commissioning.
• Hands-on PLC programming with Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, or an equivalent platform using IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience with SCADA development, ISA-88 batch control, ISA-95 integration, instrumentation commissioning, and regulatory loop tuning.
• Working knowledge of OPC-UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or Modbus, plus the ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and instrument data sheets.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status is required for legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Ignition, Rockwell, Siemens, ISA CAP, or equivalent certifications.
• SIS/SIL verification, IEC 61511, nuclear quality, GAMP 5, or 21 CFR Part 11 experience.
• OSIsoft PI/AVEVA PI, LIMS integration, SQL, Python, REST APIs, or IEC 62443 experience.
