Sr. Staff Backend Software Engineer (Java)

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain core workflow platform infrastructure using technologies such as Temporal and Netflix Conductor.
• Build highly available, scalable, multi-tiered distributed services for inventory, warehouse management, order reconciliation, and product commerce.
• Benchmark platform performance, collect metrics, publish results, and ensure 99.995% platform reliability and uptime.
• Estimate capacity and provision clusters for different customer workloads.
• Develop production monitoring and alerting, investigate critical system issues, and address root causes.
• Collaborate with other teams to make the platform open and extensible.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
• At least 8 years of backend software development experience.
• Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases, such as Cassandra or MySQL.
• Strong familiarity with Java and the Spring Framework, plus experience operating mission-critical, high-throughput, low-latency services.

Nice to have

• 10 years of experience developing and operating backend services and web applications.
• Experience leading, coaching, and motivating high-performing software engineers.
• Knowledge of Agile engineering practices across coding, reviews, builds, testing, and live-site operations.
• Experience collaborating with end users, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
