CCaR - Senior Software Engineer (Java/Spring Boot)

Location: Remote, Arlington, VA; U.S. citizenship is required. Relocation expenses are not compensated.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Own enterprise application capabilities from requirements analysis and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, verification, and sustainment.
• Build and enhance Java and Spring Boot backend services, APIs, Oracle data models, and Angular features.
• Design tables, keys, constraints, indexes, and schema changes while reasoning about SQL execution and database performance.
• Deliver changes through CI/CD pipelines, including security scanning, testing, deployment, and verification in cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud.
• Investigate defects, participate in architecture decisions, review code, and modernize or refactor established systems.
• Use AI-enabled development tools while maintaining accountability for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of professional software development experience with substantial hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, information systems, mathematics, or a related technical discipline; 11 or more years of relevant experience may substitute.
• Strong relational database and non-trivial SQL experience, preferably with Oracle.
• Familiarity with a modern frontend framework such as Angular or React and experience delivering software through CI/CD into cloud environments.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance are required; an active Secret clearance is preferred.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, communicate effectively, lift or carry at least 15 pounds, and travel when required.

Nice to have

• Experience with JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, Flyway or Liquibase, AWS services, containers, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience with security and compliance practices including PKI, TLS, secrets management, FIPS cryptography, STIGs, RMF, or ATO processes.
• Knowledge of federal financial management, PPBE, or DoD/DoW systems acquisition.
• Production experience with AI-enabled development tools and the judgment to validate their output.
