What you will do

  • Lead and develop a team of propulsion and thermal analysts, including hiring, mentoring, and technical growth.
  • Establish analysis standards, documentation, validation methods, and best practices across structural, fluid, and thermal domains.
  • Create and maintain FEA models, define critical loads and load cases, and support component design, certification, and drawing reviews.
  • Oversee multiphase propellant feed-system and microgravity fluid modeling, including vaporization, condensation, propellant acquisition, and slosh dynamics.
  • Guide high-pressure gas, transient-flow, heat-exchanger, and thruster plume impingement analyses, and partner with test engineering on structural and dynamic testing.
  • Integrate simulation results with ground and flight-test data, lead root-cause investigations, and present findings at design reviews and NASA certification activities.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering field.
  • 8+ years of relevant aerospace design and analysis experience.
  • 2+ years overseeing or managing a technical engineering or analysis team.
  • Strong expertise in structural analysis, including FEA modeling, stress analysis, and load-case development.
  • Experience with thermo-fluid analysis tools such as CFD and 1-D system modeling.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and design-for-manufacturability principles.

Nice to have

  • M.S. or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience with human spaceflight hardware, multiphase fluid dynamics, propellant management, and low-gravity slosh modeling.
  • Experience with thermo-mechanical fatigue, fracture analysis, spectrum-loading fatigue analysis, high-pressure gas systems, transient fluid dynamics, and heat exchangers.
  • 5+ years of experience with liquid or gas rocket engine combustion devices, including RCS design.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams that connect analysis predictions with test and qualification data.
