Staff Engineer, Software Test (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: Dallas, Texas; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Develop test plans and procedures for X-BAT flight-critical software systems.
• Execute verification and validation efforts across hardware, software, and integrated systems.
• Analyze test data and document verification results.
• Troubleshoot and isolate complex system defects.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, QA, systems, and program teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3–7+ years of hands-on testing experience across software, hardware, or integrated systems; 7+ years is expected for the experienced staff-level profile.
• Knowledge of verification and validation, regression testing, and test case development.
• Experience with test tools, automation, scripting such as Python or MATLAB, and test frameworks.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, requirements, and system specifications and to troubleshoot defects.
• Familiarity with ISO, MIL-STD, DO-178C, DO-254, or related aerospace and defense standards; ability to obtain a S//SAR security clearance is desired.

Nice to have

• Experience testing and troubleshooting complex embedded systems.
• Experience with automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop, flight test support, large programs, and first-of-type systems.
