TL;DR
Demand Planner (Aerospace) (Avionics and electronic hardware): Developing demand, supply, and fulfillment plans for electronic components, circuit boards, and assemblies supporting the design and manufacturing of human-rated space stations with an accent on BOM accuracy, material readiness, and component lifecycle management. Focus on coordinating long-lead procurement, updating forecasts after engineering changes, and resolving supply constraints across critical avionics hardware.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite. Travel up to 20% and occasional evenings or weekends may be required to support critical mission milestones.

Salary: $85,000–$175,000 USD annually, depending on the demand planner level.

What you will do

  • Oversee demand, supply, and fulfillment planning for avionics, EEE components, PCBs, PCBAs, and related commodities.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, and Mission Management to align planning with technical and business requirements.
  • Maintain BOMs, part records, master data, lead-time information, and part-availability data across electronic hardware lifecycles.
  • Release procurement planning messages, work orders, and purchase orders while coordinating with suppliers on long-lead components.
  • Provide material availability insights in Clear-to-Build and Material Readiness meetings and resolve electronic component constraints.
  • Update forecasts and supply plans after engineering change orders and report readiness, shortages, and obsolescence risks through LOB and dashboard reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a relevant field, or four years of relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of demand-planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data-visualization tools.
  • Experience leading scheduling discussions with multiple stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to make independent judgments with limited information and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export-control requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with BOMs and their integration across ERP, MRP, PLM, and MES systems.
  • Background in aerospace, avionics, high-reliability electronics, or EV manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of EEE lifecycle management, obsolescence tracking, alternates, qualification requirements, PCB/PCBA manufacturing, and traceability.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics for electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality systems and ITAR/EAR compliance.
