Senior Staff Engineer, Software Embedded Applications (R5068)

What you will do

• Develop high-quality C/C++ embedded software for X-BAT aircraft, from board support packages to complex applications.
• Lead cross-functional teams in designing software features for advanced robotic avionics capabilities.
• Own complex software capabilities from design through production, including architecture initiatives, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Integrate firmware, software verification, autonomy AI, ground control stations, avionics sensors, subsystems, and payloads.
• Design virtualized hardware and hardware-in-the-loop test systems, along with tools for deployment, continuous integration, test execution, and data analysis.
• Create prototypes, document architectures and designs, and report project status, risks, and accomplishments to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Strong embedded software development experience in C/C++ and modern C++ features, including work with BSPs or other systems software components.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, network protocols, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience owning software development processes and features, shipping products, and delivering high-quality solutions in fast-paced environments.
• Experience producing technical documentation, including architecture documents, detailed designs, and test plans.
• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, or another STEM discipline.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

Nice to have

• Experience in startup or R&D environments and military aircraft development.
• Experience with DO-178C compliance, FPGA development using SystemVerilog, and real-time operating systems.
• Adaptability and ability to innovate under pressure in dynamic project environments.
