Senior Staff Engineer - Platform (Embedded Systems)

What you will do

• Architect and develop Linux BSPs, platform drivers, and user-space services for SONiC, FBOSS, and OpenBMC platforms across x86 and ARM architectures.
• Develop embedded diagnostic firmware in C/C++ for hardware bring-up, manufacturing validation, health monitoring, and field RMA processes.
• Build ASIC- and platform-level diagnostic suites covering memory, SerDes, datapath, PCIe, power, thermal, and transceiver validation.
• Use JTAG, logic analyzers, and structured debugging methods to isolate hardware and software failures and resolve root causes.
• Plan hardware/software validation campaigns and build automated Python and Bash tooling for orchestration, log parsing, coverage, and CI/CD integration.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, validation, and program teams to deliver reliable production infrastructure.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in platform or diagnostic embedded firmware development.
• Strong C/C++ proficiency for embedded and systems-level development, plus Python and Bash for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex hardware/software systems and validating performance and reliability.
• Understanding of hardware interfaces and protocols including I2C, SPI, PCIe, UART, GPIO, MDIO, and JTAG.
• Electrical Engineering background, including circuit design and system integration.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; on-site work in Santa Clara, California is required.
