Staff - Principal, Software Engineer, SDK (Networking ASIC SDK): Designing and developing the SDK abstraction layer for custom switch ASICs with an accent on HAL architecture, dataplane interfaces, and SONiC integration. What you will do
- Own the SDK architecture for custom switch ASICs, including HALs, abstraction layers, API models, and feature-programming workflows.
- Design software interfaces for L2/L3 forwarding, ACLs, QoS, buffer management, and telemetry.
- Translate chip specifications and datapath designs into software-programmable abstractions with ASIC architects.
- Integrate the control plane with SONiC through OCP SAI or custom APIs.
- Lead new-silicon bring-up across simulation, emulation, and production systems with firmware and hardware teams.
- Define SDK design, automated testing, CI/CD, and benchmarking practices while mentoring engineers and influencing the switch software stack.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or ECE with 10+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
- Expertise in L2/L3 Ethernet switching and routing, including VLAN, LAG, xSTP, LLDP, OSPF, BGP, IGMP, ISIS, ACLs, QoS, policers, and TCAM.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills in Linux-based environments, with Python experience and familiarity with compiler toolchains and performance-profiling tools.
- Experience developing SDKs and embedded system software for Ethernet switch silicon, networking ASICs, SoCs, and embedded platforms.
- Experience with modern network operating systems such as SONiC and simulation or behavioral-model environments such as BMv2 and RTL-based ASIC simulations.
