Embedded Systems Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: North Kingstown, Rhode Island, USA. Relocation packages are available.

What you will do

• Develop, debug, and maintain real-time embedded software for Seaglider vehicles, from microcontroller code to Linux-based applications.
• Contribute to software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test environments for controls software verification.
• Set up and maintain sensors, servos, single-board computers, harnesses, breakout boards, and other COTS electronics.
• Automate build systems, improve deployment pipelines, and create developer tools supporting maintenance and certification.
• Support sea trials by monitoring vehicle operation, running diagnostics, troubleshooting electronics, and demonstrating Seaglider capabilities.
• Collaborate with controls, avionics, modeling, and other multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience writing C++ for embedded systems on Linux, an RTOS, or bare metal.
• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded interfaces including Serial, SPI, CAN, PWM, ADC, and DIO.
• Ability to read, interpret, and contribute to wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Scripting experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
• Experience with LabVIEW or Simulink for data acquisition and HIL systems.
• Experience with field testing, electronics troubleshooting, safety-critical applications, or aerospace and automotive standards such as DO-178C or ISO 26262.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with actuation systems such as servo motors.
