TL;DR
Integration Engineer, Fluid Systems Test (Aerospace): Designing, building, and commissioning fluid-system ground support equipment and test stands for human-rated commercial space stations with an accent on pressure testing, instrumentation, and hardware integration. Focus on developing test plans, directing high-risk vehicle operations, troubleshooting complex fluid systems, and documenting non-conformances and corrective actions.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite position with approximately 20% travel for vehicle test support, including extended travel of up to one month for final vehicle testing. Work may require varying hours, shifts, extended hours, and weekends.

Salary: $112,340–$230,472 USD annually, depending on level and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and commission fluid-system ground support equipment and test stands.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for on-vehicle checkouts, fluid systems, instrumentation, and high-pressure testing.
  • Direct tests, provide status updates, lead handoff meetings, and conduct PDRs, CDRs, and TRRs.
  • Create mechanical, fluid, instrumentation schematics, and test-system P&IDs.
  • Document non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with quality and engineering teams on corrective actions.
  • Work with engineers, subject-matter experts, technicians, and distributed engineering organizations while mentoring team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, electrical, or a related engineering field.
  • 4+ years of related engineering experience with hands-on hardware integration and testing.
  • Experience working with technicians, running multi-person operations, and making go/no-go judgments.
  • Experience writing test plans, procedures, presentations, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of pressure testing, fluid-system design, proof and leak checks, and high-pressure gas systems.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export-control requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ASME B31.3, D.O.O., API, NFPA, SMC-S-016, GEVS NASA-STD-7000a, or MIL-STD-810G.
  • Experience with closed-loop control systems, precision instrumentation, DAQ platforms, or environmental testing.
  • Proficiency with NX or other CAD systems, Teamcenter or other PLM systems, and SVN or Git.
  • Experience with Smartsheet, MS Project, JIRA, or Confluence.
  • Experience designing test fixtures and troubleshooting new and existing systems.
