Engineer II, Software Embedded Applications (C++)

Location: On-site in the United States, Dallas, Texas, or Boston, MA

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees

What you will do

• Develop high-quality C/C++ embedded software for X-BAT aircraft, prioritizing performance, reliability, and safety.
• Design and integrate interfaces for avionics sensors, subsystems, and payloads.
• Integrate firmware, software verification, autonomy AI, and Ground Control Station software from multiple departments.
• Participate in software design, code reviews, testing, architecture development, and technical documentation.
• Build virtualized hardware and hardware-in-the-loop test systems for evaluating software functionality and performance.
• Develop prototypes and tools that improve software deployment, test execution, data analysis, and continuous integration workflows.

Requirements

• Professional experience developing embedded software in C/C++.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and modern C++ features.
• Knowledge of embedded software, BSPs, or other systems software components.
• Understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and network protocol fundamentals.
• Demonstrated leadership, ownership, technical documentation, detailed design, and test-planning skills.
• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or another STEM discipline.

Nice to have

• Ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance.
• Experience in startup or R&D environments.
• Adaptability and ability to innovate under pressure.
