Embedded Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $130,000–$280,000 per year

What you will do

• Implement and improve low-level processor functions, peripheral controls, and communication interfaces.
• Develop closed-loop control functions and algorithms for detecting and responding to failures such as broken sensors and radiation upsets.
• Provide embedded software input for new avionics and spacecraft system development.
• Build rapid test software for avionics and propulsion devices.
• Develop rigorous, reviewed, and tested software for manufacturing and flight operations.
• Collaborate with avionics hardware, GNC, propulsion, and other engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a scientific discipline, or 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 1 year of experience writing C/C++ for an embedded system or vehicle such as a robot, car, drone, or spacecraft.
• Experience with embedded debugging and hardware troubleshooting is relevant to the role.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, hardware debuggers, and source-level debuggers.
• Knowledge of I2C, CAN, SPI, UART, and other communication protocols.
• Experience with microprocessors, microcontrollers, caches, buses, memory controllers, and DMA.
• Experience developing low-level drivers for camera modules and interfacing with image sensors.
• Experience with motor drivers, power electronics, encoders, and current-sensor feedback systems.
