Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Redmond, WA, United States. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for authorization under U.S. export regulations.

Salary: $120,000–$145,000 per year for Level I, $140,000–$170,000 per year for Level II, or $160,000–$210,000 per year for Senior Software Engineer.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy reliable, highly available software for data centers operating in orbit.
• Build fault-tolerant systems that operate at scale with minimal maintenance.
• Write efficient code for embedded systems and custom hardware, optimizing performance and reliability.
• Integrate software with hardware and collaborate with hardware, firmware, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Create test plans for simulations and on-orbit testing, using automated testing and continuous integration.
• Build infrastructure and monitoring tools for rapid development, deployment, and system performance analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or at least 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or eligibility for authorization under U.S. export regulations is required.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when necessary to support critical project milestones.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of software development experience, especially in aerospace, space, or data processing.
• Expertise in UDP, TCP/IP, and high-performance systems.
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing skills.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
