Facilities Specialist I

Location: On-site in Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States. Successful candidates must clear a US government-administered background check for on-site work at a government partner location.

Salary: $32.80–$49.20 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Support daily facility operations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
• Track facility equipment and vehicle fleet records and coordinate servicing or repairs.
• Respond to work orders and service requests and conduct routine facility inspections.
• Support inspection and maintenance of fire life safety systems and help maintain code compliance.
• Record completed work, inspections, and service requests in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, facilities staff, employees, and other stakeholders to complete maintenance activities.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in general maintenance, facilities, fleet maintenance, or a related field; internship, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
• Basic knowledge of one or more facilities trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, fire life safety, or general building maintenance.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, plans, manuals, and basic schematics.
• Ability to identify maintenance issues, troubleshoot routine problems, and escalate complex repairs.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or similar tools.
• Ability to support occasional after-hours emergency response or on-call needs.

Nice to have

• Experience with fleet management, vehicle maintenance coordination, or equipment maintenance.
• Equipment operator certification or experience operating facility-related equipment.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System for work orders, inspections, or maintenance records.
• Experience coordinating follow-up actions for facility maintenance issues before they affect operations.
