Location: Onsite at the headquarters in College Park, Maryland, United States. Travel up to 5% domestically. The role involves after-hours and weekend on-call support for facility emergencies.
Salary: $24.89β$30.05 per hour, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do
- Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, lighting, and other building systems.
- Coordinate external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance, repairs, and facility projects.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, recordkeeping, calibration coordination, and inventory management.
- Support EHS activities, including HAZMAT removal coordination, SDS updates, JHAs, safety compliance, and emergency procedures.
- Assist with physical security, warehouse operations, equipment moves, site upkeep, and internal facility support requests.
- Develop and follow emergency protocols for power outages, water leaks, broken equipment, and other facility disruptions.
Requirements
- Technical degree or certification and 4+ years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance, electronics or optics laboratories, data centers, manufacturing, or an equivalent background.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, facility maintenance, hand tools, and small repairs.
- Ability to use computerized maintenance management systems, read blueprints and technical specifications, and follow operating procedures.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, stooping, and working overhead.
- Strong communication and computer skills, including Google and Microsoft platforms, with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Must meet U.S. export-control and government-contract eligibility requirements, including U.S. Person status or applicable authorization.
Nice to have
- Experience in R&D laboratory environments, leading-edge technology companies, secured environments, or site buildouts and decommissioning.
- CAD experience and knowledge of access-control or camera systems.
- First aid, CPR, AED, BBP, or OSHA 30 certifications.
- Experience with safety committees, JHAs, incident investigations, root-cause analysis, forklifts, scissor lifts, or box trucks.
