Facilities & Maintenance Technician

hirify.global is developing a commercial fusion energy approach based on stellarator physics and computer-controlled arrays of planar coils.

What you will do

• Perform routine repairs involving plumbing, basic electrical systems, carpentry, painting, and general facility maintenance.
• Monitor building automation systems and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC units and air filtration systems.
• Assemble laboratory benches, install compressed air and cooling water utilities, and complete minor structural modifications.
• Escort and supervise external contractors, including janitorial, landscaping, and specialized MEP vendors.
• Conduct weekly safety walkthroughs, maintain fire extinguishers and eyewash stations, and support OSHA, building-code, and chemical-management compliance.
• Manage maintenance inventory and respond to facility emergencies during and occasionally after standard business hours.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in commercial facilities maintenance, preferably in a laboratory, manufacturing, or high-tech environment.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, MEP, power tools, diagnostic equipment, technical schematics, and construction drawings.
• High school diploma or GED required; ability to operate forklifts and scissor lifts is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand or sit for extended periods.
• Willingness to occasionally travel or work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
• Ability to work on-site in a facility with industrial hazards, including high voltage, pressure systems, strong magnets, fumes, and cryogenics.

Nice to have

• Trade school certification or a license in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
• Previous forklift or scissor lift certifications.
• Experience with cryogenic fluids and high-vacuum systems.
