TL;DR
TPS Technician II, First Shift (Aerospace): Manufacturing thermal protection system components and subassemblies for the Terran R reusable rocket with an accent on adhesive bonding, vacuum bagging, and production quality. Focus on following engineering specifications, operating calibrated tools and MES software, and troubleshooting manufacturing issues with engineering and quality teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite, first shift Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. PT, with a 50-hour workweek including 10 guaranteed overtime hours weekly.

Salary: $27.20–$40.80 USD per hour.

What you will do

  • Manufacture thermal protection system components and subassemblies for the Terran R vehicle.
  • Perform adhesive bonding operations, including surface preparation, adhesive mixing, application, and vacuum bagging.
  • Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and manufacturing procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, calibrated equipment, and Manufacturing Execution System software to document production activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality inspectors, and technicians to troubleshoot production issues and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Support downstream manufacturing operations while maintaining safety, quality, and shop-organization standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience or experience in a related field.
  • Experience with adhesive bonding, including surface preparation, adhesive mixing, application, and vacuum bagging.
  • Experience manufacturing or assembling flight hardware in a production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality flight hardware.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with engineering, quality, and production teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations at remote or downstream production sites.
