Senior Engineer Sustaining Process Engineering (ALD)

Location: Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea; the job description also lists Ansan, South Korea. International travel of up to 50% is required.

What you will do

• Own sustaining activities for ALD hardware modules, chambers, and precursor delivery cabinets across the installed base.
• Investigate chronic tool issues, hardware failures, process drift, particle issues, metrology shifts, and equipment faults.
• Monitor SPC charts, alarms, excursions, and chamber-to-chamber matching; define recovery and prevention plans.
• Optimize preventive maintenance, chamber parts life, process kits, tool availability, throughput, and cost of ownership.
• Support hardware qualifications, engineering change orders, retrofits, configuration control, and standardized tuning guidance.
• Document chamber health parameters and troubleshooting procedures while coordinating with OEMs, equipment engineers, technicians, manufacturing, and operations teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–7+ years of hands-on experience with ALD or thin-film deposition systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of vacuum systems, gas panels, valves, plasma systems, and hardware interactions.
• Proficiency with SPC, data analysis, and troubleshooting semiconductor process tools.
• English proficiency is required.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 50%.

Nice to have

• Experience in hardware sustaining, equipment reliability, or tool ownership.
• Familiarity with ALD platforms from ASM, Lam Research, TEL, Applied Materials, or similar.
• Experience with JMP, Python, or other data analytics tools.
• Knowledge of contamination control and cleanroom operation.
