Senior z/OS Systems Engineer

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 base salary per year, plus annual performance bonus

What you will do

• Own the architecture, design, engineering standards, availability, performance, and recoverability of the enterprise z/OS platform.
• Lead z/OS installation, customization, upgrades, maintenance, and modernization using IBM ServerPac and related program products.
• Provide escalation support for complex z/OS, JES, Parallel Sysplex, and program product issues.
• Lead capacity planning, performance analysis, system monitoring, and tuning for mission-critical production and test workloads.
• Design and continuously improve disaster recovery architecture and procedures in partnership with infrastructure teams.
• Mentor system programmers and advise application development, infrastructure, security, operations, business, and vendor stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a z/OS Systems Engineer or System Programmer, including large-scale Parallel Sysplex environments.
• Deep expertise in z/OS architecture, internals, operations, recovery scenarios, and enterprise-level initiatives.
• Experience installing and customizing IBM program products, configuring I/O with HCD, and troubleshooting z/OS TCP/IP networking.
• Strong knowledge of CICS, Db2, MQ, RACF, and mainframe automation using Assembler, REXX, CLIST, or COBOL.
• Expertise with RMF, CMF, OMEGAMON, Intellimagic, and automation tools such as AutoOperator, OPS/MVS, or AF/Remote.
• Strong communication, organization, technical leadership, and cross-team influencing skills in regulated, high-availability environments.

• Experience with GRS and RMM.
• Familiarity with zSecure.
