Mainframe CICS System Administrator

Location: Phoenix, AZ, USA (3 days onsite per week; Phoenix Metro Area). Candidates must live in or around the Phoenix, AZ area; relocation to the area will be considered.

Salary: $61,560–$146,640 (U.S. compensation range for a full-time schedule)

What you will do

• Install, upgrade, and maintain CICS Transaction Server (CICS TS) environments.
• Apply patches (PTFs), manage version upgrades, and perform regression validation.
• Configure and maintain CICS regions (production, test, DR), including startup parameters and system initialization tables (DFHSIT).
• Monitor transaction performance and system health using tools such as OMEGAMON/MainView/TMON.
• Analyze CPU utilization, storage usage, and transaction response times; perform tuning to eliminate bottlenecks.
• Participate in on-call rotation with engineering teams.

Requirements

• Location: Must live in or around the Phoenix, AZ area and be onsite 3 days a week; relocation to the area is acceptable.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Mainframe CICS.
• Proven experience in CICS System Administration, including work management, user management, journal management, and performance management.
• Experience with CICS Transaction Server and related ISV products, including upgrading/installing and migrating CICS Transaction servers.
• Capable of upgrading/installing and supporting IBM & ISV products, including P2V, V2V, and P2P migrations.
• Basic knowledge of z/OS, Unix System Services, SMP/E, REXX, Java, VSAM, and third-party products.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Assembler, COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
• Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; follow projects through completion.
