Legacy Support Engineer (IDMS/Db2 z/OS)

Location: Remote within the United States; occasional off-hours support may be required for production emergencies or planned maintenance. The applicant must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

What you will do

• Provide daily operational support for legacy mainframe applications and associated databases.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues while minimizing downtime.
• Analyze system performance, identify tuning opportunities, and execute optimization tasks.
• Support batch processing, job scheduling, production workflows, maintenance windows, releases, and environment migrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on enhancements, patches, and updates.
• Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, remediation planning, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience supporting legacy or mainframe systems in production.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong mainframe support, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning experience.
• Mainframe DBA experience with IDMS, including schema/subschema maintenance, upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and incident resolution.
• Working knowledge of Db2 z/OS, SQL, database administration, traditional batch systems, JCL, and production operations.
• Must reside in the United States and be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Control-M workload automation, including scheduling, calendar setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with legacy-platform modernization or migration initiatives.
• Exposure to federal or enterprise environments with mature change-control processes.
