Senior Consultant, Business Controls (Banking)

What you will do

• Manage material, systemic, and emerging operational risks for Personal & Business Banking, with a focus on Borrowing Solutions.
• Build relationships with business partners, project managers, and second- and third-line risk and control functions.
• Identify risk exposures and control gaps, assess materiality, investigate root causes, and recommend mitigation measures.
• Lead Change Initiative Risk Assessments, deficiency remediation, control improvement initiatives, internal audits, and compliance examinations.
• Support the CIBC Control Framework, self-assessment processes, operational risk profiles, scenarios, deficiency management, and key risk indicators.
• Act as a risk and controls subject matter expert on complex business, governance, and regulatory projects.

Requirements

• Experience with Personal and Small Business Banking products, channels, businesses, and processes.
• Extensive knowledge of operational risk management principles, practices, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to communicate Control Framework requirements and accountabilities to business partners.
• Strong relationship management, collaboration, critical thinking, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada at the specified location; a valid work or study permit may be required.
• Availability for a temporary full-time contract ending March 31, 2027, with 37.5 weekly hours.
