Compliance Officer, Electronic Communications Surveillance, Commercial Banking & Wealth Management Compliance

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid arrangement with 1–3 days per week onsite at Toronto-81 Bay

What you will do

• Conduct surveillance reviews of electronic communications across applicable Canadian securities businesses.
• Investigate employee conduct matters and potential non-compliance with regulatory or internal requirements.
• Escalate matters requiring advanced investigation to Senior Compliance Officers.
• Communicate identified risks, findings, and recommended remedial actions to internal partners.
• Prepare surveillance summaries, investigation logs, management reports, and records for audits or regulatory inquiries.
• Support policy updates, process improvements, surveillance technology testing, and ongoing regulatory alignment.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, surveillance, or control functions within financial services.
• University degree or college diploma in Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of the regulatory environment for securities businesses, conduct risk, and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new applications quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize findings concisely.
• Must be legally eligible to work at the specified Canadian location and hold a valid work or study permit where applicable.

• Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, Options Supervisors Course, Branch Managers Course, Partners, Directors and Officers Course, or equivalent coursework.
• Written and spoken French.
