Senior Engineer, Mechanical Test (R5207)

Location: Dallas, Texas; on-site

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate mechanical test fixtures and systems using hydraulic actuation, linkages, and sensor instrumentation.
• Support hydraulic system design, component integration, troubleshooting, pressure and flow characterization, and safe operation.
• Develop and execute test plans for mechanical performance, structural integrity, and environmental durability.
• Integrate and calibrate load cells, pressure transducers, strain gauges, accelerometers, and other sensors.
• Create Python scripts for test automation, signal processing, data analysis, and result visualization.
• Analyze test data, prepare technical reports, provide design feedback, and collaborate with mechanical, systems, and electrical engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical or structures testing or product development.
• Deep experience with hydraulic systems and precise control of complex test environments.
• Expertise in sensor selection, integration, and calibration for high-confidence data collection.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, test automation, and data analysis.
• Advanced CAD experience, such as Siemens NX, including test hardware and prototype design.

Nice to have

• Experience with aerospace structures and dynamics testing, data acquisition systems, reaction frame design, test readiness reviews, and post-test analysis.
• Experience with composite materials, including anisotropy, delamination risk, and layup configuration.
• Knowledge of hydraulic schematics, leak detection, instrumentation, and pressurized-system safety.
