Location: Fully onsite in Long Beach, California, United States

Base salary: $100,000–$120,000 for Test Engineer 2, $125,000–$155,000 for Test Engineer 3, and $140,000–$175,000 for Senior Test Engineer.

What you will do

  • Define and lead mechanical test strategies, including requirements verification, procedure development, and execution oversight.
  • Author and review test plans, procedures, readiness reports, and compliance matrices.
  • Lead acceptance, functional, performance, qualification, and integration test campaigns.
  • Design, build, commission, and operate mechanical test fixtures and ground support equipment.
  • Analyze test data, resolve anomalies, and lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with program leadership, customers, regulatory bodies, mechanical design, systems engineering, and production teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant mechanical systems test engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability systems.
  • Knowledge of acceptance, functional, and performance testing methodologies.
  • Experience leading mechanical test campaigns and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong data analysis, systems engineering, failure analysis, communication, leadership, and technical documentation skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to government contracts and ITAR requirements; eligible U.S. persons may also qualify under applicable export regulations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or higher degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience with data acquisition, test automation, and scripting using LabVIEW, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Experience with spacecraft structures, mechanisms, actuators, deployables, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with CAD, finite element analysis, MIL-STD-810, NASA-STD-5018, or other aerospace mechanical test specifications.
  • Experience in classified or secure test environments and an active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
