TL;DR
Senior Test Engineer (Thermal Control Systems) (aerospace thermal and fluid systems): Owning end-to-end test campaigns for thermal control hardware supporting human-rated space stations with an accent on fluid-system integration, instrumentation, test execution, and data analysis. Focus on designing ground support equipment, troubleshooting high-pressure and cryogenic systems, resolving root causes, and improving test traceability and manufacturing quality.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The role requires eligibility under U.S. export-control regulations, including U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing.

Salary: $137,760–$195,552 USD per year.

Company

hirify.global develops next-generation commercial space stations and human-rated spaceflight systems for microgravity research, manufacturing, and long-term human presence in space.

What you will do

  • Own thermal control system test campaigns from concept of operations and test planning through ground support equipment design, instrumentation, execution, analysis, and closeout.
  • Assemble, integrate, instrument, and test thermal and fluid hardware, including tubing, heat exchangers, cold plates, pumps, valves, heaters, and multilayer insulation.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, work instructions, manufacturing plans, and traceability documentation aligned with subsystem requirements and program milestones.
  • Collaborate with thermal design, analysis, systems, integration, manufacturing, and supplier teams to improve manufacturability, assembly, testability, and component delivery.
  • Investigate technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions with technicians, engineers, and suppliers.
  • Contribute to design and test reviews, test-efficiency improvements, manufacturing yield, data quality, team standards, and mentoring of junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline, plus 5+ years of relevant experience in thermal systems, fluid systems, manufacturing engineering, or test engineering.
  • Experience with fluid mechanics, system design, P&IDs, test instrumentation and fittings, safety protocols, troubleshooting, and failure root-cause analysis.
  • Experience owning and executing test campaigns end-to-end, including objective definition, CONOP development, ground support equipment design and build, instrumentation, execution, data analysis, automation, and data-review tools.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as Siemens NX for design reviews and manufacturing and test documentation.
  • Ability to contribute to cross-functional engineering initiatives and deliver projects on schedule in fast-paced aerospace or similarly demanding environments.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control requirements through U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing.

Nice to have

  • Experience with supercritical fluid systems, high-pressure and LN2 testing, test-conductor responsibilities, and thermal-control hardware manufacturing and assembly.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, aerospace paints, coatings, adhesives, and contamination-sensitive processes.
  • Familiarity with aerospace test standards and codes such as SMC-S-016 and ASME B31.3, and lifecycle reviews including PDR, CDR, TRR, ATP, and QTP.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems, sensor selection, signal diagnostics, data analysis, controls, electronics, wiring, and instrumentation.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time exempt employment with company equity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Paid time off, paid parental leave, disability insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
