Legal Counsel (Commercial)

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States. The role requires travel of up to 25% and occasional evening or weekend work to support critical mission milestones. The hired candidate must be a U.S. person under applicable export-control rules or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

Salary: $155,000–$221,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Structure, negotiate, and execute standard and complex commercial contracts aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Provide practical legal guidance to business teams and support customer transactions in the United States and internationally.
• Manage hirify.global’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, licensing, enforcement, and risk mitigation.
• Develop contract templates, playbooks, intake processes, and approval workflows.
• Identify and manage risks involving supply chains, confidentiality, data privacy, export controls, and compliance.
• Support the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel on special projects while working with internal legal and business partners.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a legal role at a private company or law firm.
• Subject matter expertise in commercial contracts and intellectual property.
• JD and admission to practice law in good standing, with eligibility to practice in-house in California.
• Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to balance legal risk and business productivity in a fast-paced environment.
• U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing is required due to U.S. export controls.
