Combat Systems – Communication Systems Engineer (Defence)

Location: Adelaide, Australia. Hybrid work from home and office and a 9-day fortnight may be considered. Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.

What you will do

• Support the development and upgrade of maintenance manuals, installation inspections, test plans, and test schedules for combat-system communication systems.
• Review communication-system design material and generate maintenance instructions for new or upgraded systems.
• Prepare test plans and procedures and support verification and validation activities across each program test phase.
• Conduct installation inspections, functional testing, and acceptance testing.
• Prepare for and support system readiness reviews, test readiness reviews, and other major program milestones.
• Troubleshoot faults, assist with system maintenance, and act as the subject matter expert for communication-system subsystems.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Up to 4 years of engineering experience before entering this role.
• Background in systems engineering, integration, testing, and verification and validation.
• Sound understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to hold or obtain an NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance.
• Information about past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested for export-control eligibility checks, including ITAR.

Nice to have

• Experience in the defence industry or familiarity with complex military systems.
• Background in military, Royal Australian Navy, or Royal Navy communications, including voice, data, or radio products.
• Familiarity with systems engineering in an ASDEFCON context.
