Flight Test Engineer (R5006)

Location: Wichita Metro Area, Boston, Dallas, San Diego, Washington, DC, San Mateo, or Remote, United States. Workplace: On-site. Candidates outside the Wichita Metro Area must be willing and able to travel up to 80%.

Salary: $115,000–$215,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Develop, publish, and execute flight-test plans, procedures, risk assessments, safety reviews, and readiness reviews.
• Integrate and test aircraft systems, payloads, communications and data links, software, ground-control systems, and mission equipment.
• Coordinate pre-flight, flight, and post-flight activities, including configuration, instrumentation, telemetry, data collection, and reporting.
• Analyze ground and flight-test data to identify trends, anomalies, root causes, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering, autonomy, systems integration, product support, operations, and manufacturing teams to validate requirements and troubleshoot issues.
• Lead or support test-range operations, safety briefings, go/no-go decisions, maintenance, configuration control, operating limitations, and field logistics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• 5–10 years of experience in developmental or operational ground and flight testing, unmanned or manned aircraft systems, aircraft integration, or aerospace systems engineering.
• Strong understanding of aircraft systems, flight dynamics, avionics, telemetry, sensors, or control systems.
• Experience writing and executing structured test plans, procedures, and technical reports, with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across engineering and operations teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% when not based in the Wichita Metro Area; overtime and weekend coverage may be required.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of relevant ground and flight-test, unmanned aircraft, aircraft integration, or aerospace systems engineering experience.
• Experience with Group 4–5 UAS, fighter-type capabilities, weapons systems, autonomy, navigation, mission planning, or C2 systems.
• Experience with FAA, DoW, test-range operations, aircraft maintenance, avionics and payload integration, telemetry, RF systems, or flight-data analysis.
• Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, crewed aviation experience, or Mission Control Room experience with IADS or a similar FTI display system.
• Experience supporting flight-test campaigns from design and planning through execution and reporting.
