Salary: $162,360–$265,392 USD per year in California.

What you will do
- Guide the design of thermal, environmental control, and life support systems for Haven-1.
- Lead technical reviews of mechanical designs, analyses, manufacturing drawings, test plans, and concepts of operations.
- Drive FMEA and fault-tree analysis across engineering systems to identify and reduce failure risks.
- Define and review verification, validation, acceptance, and qualification test campaigns.
- Partner with hardware, manufacturing, configuration management, risk management, and software teams to maintain design intent and traceability.
- Develop engineering standards, reliability checklists, review frameworks, and tools supporting design decisions and risk analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in responsible engineering, design ownership, systems integration, test engineering, or reliability-focused development.
- Experience with complex aerospace, spacecraft, aircraft, launch-vehicle, mission-critical, or safety-critical systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, assembling, integrating, or testing hardware.
- Strong systems-level judgment and the ability to identify and communicate risks early.
- Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export-control regulations.
Nice to have
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in responsible engineering, systems engineering, Office of the Chief Engineer, or reliability engineering roles.
- Knowledge of fracture control, reliability methodologies, or human-rated hardware standards.
- Experience creating engineering standards, review templates, or technical guidance frameworks.
- Strong scripting and data analysis skills with Python, MATLAB, or Excel, plus familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau.
