Salary: $162,360–$265,392 per year in California.

What you will do

  • Guide the design and reliability of primary and secondary structures for Haven-1.
  • Lead FMEA, fault tree analysis, risk quantification, and design improvements across flight, launch, and ground support systems.
  • Provide technical leadership during design reviews, risk gates, acceptance testing, and qualification test campaigns.
  • Define design criteria, requirements, verification approaches, test methodologies, and reliability standards.
  • Track design maturity, configuration changes, compliance, and verification and validation of design revisions.
  • Partner with hardware, manufacturing, configuration management, risk management, and software teams to transition the station from design through build and test.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in responsible engineering, design ownership, systems integration, test engineering, or reliability-focused development.
  • Experience designing, assembling, integrating, or testing hardware.
  • Experience with complex aerospace, mission-critical, safety-critical, or human-rated systems.
  • Knowledge of reliability methodologies, fracture control, manufacturing processes, materials selection, and hardware qualification pathways.
  • Strong scripting and data analysis skills using Python, MATLAB, or Excel, with familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of related professional experience.
  • Background in Responsible Engineering, Systems Engineering, Office of the Chief Engineer, or Reliability Engineering.
  • Experience creating engineering standards, review templates, or technical guidance frameworks.
  • Strong systems-level intuition and ability to identify and articulate risks early.
