TL;DR
Senior Avionics Quality Inspector, Source Inspection, First Shift (Aerospace): Performing receiving inspections and quality assurance checks for PCBAs, avionics components, wire harnesses, and installations with an accent on supplier source inspections, audits, and standards compliance. Focus on inspecting solder joints and harness assemblies, conducting continuity tests, interpreting engineering documentation, and maintaining traceable quality records while traveling to supplier sites.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. First shift, Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. PT, with approximately 80% travel to local and domestic supplier sites.

Salary: $31.20–$46.80 USD per hour, plus potential overtime, salary and equity.

What you will do

  • Perform receiving inspections of PCBAs, avionics systems, subassemblies, components, wire harnesses, and installations.
  • Travel to supplier sites to conduct source inspections, audits, and supplier quality activities.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records documenting the status and history of avionics components and systems.
  • Monitor industry standards, regulations, and best practices for avionics quality assurance.
  • Provide guidance and training on avionics inspection techniques and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and organized inspection environment.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as a PCBA Inspector in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a quality function.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50–80% of the time.
  • Experience inspecting solder joints, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface-mounted devices according to NASA 8739 and/or IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Knowledge of cable harness assembly and inspection according to NASA-STD-8739.3, NASA-STD-8739.4, and/or IPC-A-620.
  • Experience conducting continuity tests with a DMM and using portable measuring devices.
  • Familiarity with avionics systems, components, and installations, plus the ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.

Nice to have

  • Experience with process development and first-time quality initiatives.
  • Experience leading projects or teams and driving quality improvement efforts.
  • Current or previous certification in IPC-A-620, IPC-A-610, or J-STD-001.
