TL;DR
Quality Inspector, Avionics (aerospace hardware): Leading in-process and final inspections of complex flight hardware with an accent on avionics integration, dimensional verification, and aerospace quality standards. Focus on identifying nonconformances, performing root cause and corrective action activities, and verifying compliance with NASA, range safety, customer, and internal requirements.

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States. Full-time, 1st shift; willingness to work evenings and weekends during critical mission milestones is required. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Salary: $33–$53 USD per hour, depending on the applicable inspector level and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Lead complex in-process and final inspections of avionics and other flight hardware.
  • Provide technical direction to avionics and integration inspectors and promote consistent inspection methods and workmanship standards.
  • Use drawings, CAD models, controlled documentation, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements.
  • Support production readiness, inspection planning, daily coordination, risk escalation, and continuous improvement.
  • Process nonconforming hardware and collaborate with engineering and production on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Verify compliance with NASA, range safety, customer, and internal specifications, and document inspection results accurately.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 5+ years of inspection experience in an aerospace, military, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with dimensional inspections, calibrated inspection tools, electronic testing, and portable measuring devices.
  • Experience inspecting circuit card assemblies, custom harnesses, rack and panel assemblies, integrated systems, soldering, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface-mounted devices.
  • Knowledge of NASA and IPC workmanship standards, wire harness standards, and ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Must pass a background check and be eligible to access government facilities and U.S. export-controlled information; U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing is required. Must lift up to 25 lbs. and work in tight spaces, including climbing, stooping, bending, and crawling.

Nice to have

  • Experience reading design drawings and CAD models, assembling and testing manufactured hardware, or inspecting 3D-printed hardware.
  • Experience with nonconforming hardware control, failure and root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Google products, ERP systems, shop floor management software, and Windows.
  • Strong communication skills, initiative, attention to detail, independence, and teamwork.
