Staff Engineer, Power System Battery Pack Designer (R4479)

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas; Boston, Massachusetts; or San Diego, California

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees

What you will do

• Own the architecture, design, qualification, integration, and production deployment of battery systems for X-BAT, launch and recovery vehicles, and ground equipment.
• Define and execute the battery system vision, including high-voltage batteries of 270V and above for power systems around 100kW.
• Design and integrate high-power systems optimized for performance and reliability in harsh environments such as high altitude and radiation.
• Execute make-or-buy decisions aligned with the long-term development roadmap.
• Build a power electronics laboratory and help hire and develop the Power System team.
• Lead verification, debugging, design reviews, mentorship, and program execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Battery design experience for large aircraft or equivalent power systems such as rockets, satellites, or submarines.
• Experience delivering battery power systems to market.
• Proficiency with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment.
• Strong technical fundamentals and analytical skills.
