Manager, Procurement (Machining)

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States. Ability to travel to suppliers and work extended hours or weekends when required for critical milestones.

Salary: $114,000–$162,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and performance-manage a team of 3–5 buyers or sourcing professionals supporting machining commodities.
• Own machining commodity strategy, including supplier selection, segmentation, capacity planning, sourcing plans, and risk mitigation.
• Lead RFQs and competitive sourcing events, negotiate pricing and terms, execute contracts, and develop long-term supplier agreements.
• Manage supplier escalations involving delivery, quality, cost, capacity, schedule recovery, and contractual performance.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, Program Management, Finance, and Operations to improve manufacturability, sourcing outcomes, and production readiness.
• Develop procurement KPIs, supplier reviews, reporting, and scalable processes that improve speed, data integrity, cost discipline, and supply chain resilience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 7+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, supplier management, or a related field.
• Experience sourcing machined components or managing machining suppliers in a hardware manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading teams or managing procurement execution through buyers or sourcing professionals.
• Experience developing commodity or sourcing strategies, negotiating supplier agreements, and managing supplier performance KPIs.
• Access to controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, space, automotive, advanced manufacturing, or other high-reliability hardware environments.
• Knowledge of CNC milling, CNC turning, multi-axis machining, complex assemblies, special processes, and inspection requirements.
• Experience with tight-tolerance, low-volume/high-mix, prototype, development, or production machined hardware.
• Experience with AS9100, ISO9001, ERP/MRP procurement processes, supplier qualification, and supplier development.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, engineering documentation, and manufacturability improvement.
