BI Engineer (SQL/Python)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The work arrangement and proportion of on-site and remote work will be discussed during the interview. Candidates must be legally eligible to work at the specified location and may need a valid work or study permit.

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and improve enterprise-wide BI services and platforms.
• Collaborate with functional teams on infrastructure design, system integration, and data flows.
• Develop BI reports, dashboards, workflows, and customer-centric services.
• Configure, optimize, and secure BI applications, server farms, and network access.
• Automate infrastructure and governance processes to improve efficiency, cost savings, and reliability.
• Support project delivery, production operations, user acceptance testing, and troubleshooting of complex issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining robust BI infrastructure.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL development experience with Azure SQL, SQL Server, and MySQL.
• Experience with SAS, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI, and ThoughtSpot, particularly their backend infrastructure.
• Strong Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripting and automation skills, with knowledge of Windows and Linux.
• Database administration experience, including relational and non-relational databases, query tuning, security, high availability, and performance optimization.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada at the specified location is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and ADLS.
• Experience with mentoring, project delivery, and emerging technologies.
