TL;DR
Factory Test Technical Specialist I - 2nd Shift (Rocket Testing): Designing, building, and operating pressurized cryogenic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems for rocket testing with an accent on hazardous equipment, real-time data control, and test procedure development. Focus on identifying hazards, troubleshooting reliability issues, and improving hardware performance during factory test operations.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Second shift, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. PT, with a 50-hour workweek including 10 guaranteed overtime hours.

Salary: $33.80–$50.70 USD per hour, plus a 10% shift differential.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and operate pressurized cryogenic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems for rocket testing.
  • Develop and manage data control systems for real-time monitoring and analysis.
  • Advise engineers on testing practices, system capabilities, and operational limitations.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards involving equipment with multiple energy sources.
  • Create, maintain, and refine test plans and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot reliability issues and improve hardware performance and test efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience working with pressurized flight components.
  • Experience operating hazardous equipment and building complex fluid-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, Slack, and other basic office software.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree or trade certification in a relevant discipline, such as aviation or automotive mechanics.
  • Experience with test automation, data acquisition, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of rocket engine and fluid-system components, including pumps, valves, regulators, actuators, and check valves.
