TL;DR
Environmental Test Technician II/III (Aerospace): Performing environmental testing and maintenance for spaceflight mechanisms, separation systems, and electro-mechanical deployables with an accent on thermal vacuum, shock, vibration, and static load testing. Focus on operating test fixtures and data acquisition systems, inspecting hardware, maintaining equipment, and supporting non-conformance investigations.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global's site in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States. The role requires standing and walking for 8+ hours, working at heights and in tight spaces, and flexibility for extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts. U.S. office candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required ITAR authorizations.

Salary: $23–$32 USD per hour, MD base pay range.

What you will do

  • Perform environmental testing of aerospace mechanisms using established procedures, including static load, thermal vacuum, separation, shock, and vibration tests.
  • Operate spaceflight hardware and test fixtures with data acquisition systems.
  • Attach and remove components from spaceflight hardware and inspect mechanical and electrical components after testing.
  • Maintain test fixtures and identify potential process improvements.
  • Assist with non-conformance investigations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Environmental aerospace testing experience: 5+ years for Technician II or 2+ years for Technician III.
  • Understanding of basic electronic circuitry.
  • Ability to use tools, instruments, and equipment with precision and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in production, equipment, and field environments with noise, temperature variation, and moving machinery.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements for work in a U.S. office.

Nice to have

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace environmental testing.
  • Proficiency with electronic circuitry.
