Production Manager, Avionics Manufacturing

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite production role

Salary: $132,000–$188,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Manage daily avionics manufacturing operations, including wire harnesses, cable assemblies, electromechanical builds, box builds, and avionics integration.
• Lead supervisors, technicians, assemblers, and production personnel across multiple work centers.
• Coordinate with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Production Planning, and Test Engineering to resolve issues and maintain production flow.
• Drive improvements in throughput, first-pass yield, labor efficiency, defect reduction, and schedule adherence.
• Identify constraints involving materials, tooling, work instructions, test equipment, staffing, and processes, then lead corrective actions.
• Improve manufacturing readiness, documentation, workstation layouts, material flow, and scalability from development builds to higher-rate production.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, electronics manufacturing, or another high-reliability production environment.
• 2+ years of experience leading technicians, assemblers, or production teams in avionics, electronics, or electromechanical manufacturing.
• Experience managing wire harness, cable assembly, electromechanical integration, or avionics production activities.
• Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
• Experience with wire harness fabrication, cable routing, connector assembly, crimping, soldering, ESD controls, configuration management, and traceability.
• Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing due to U.S. export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, PFMEA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience scaling prototype and development builds to low-rate and full-rate production.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Experience developing production KPIs, managing capacity, and improving resource allocation.
