AI Engineering Director

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; salary ranges are also specified for New York/New Jersey

Salary: $210,000–$260,000 annual base salary plus target annual bonus for MA and NY/NJ

What you will do

• Execute the AI strategy across LLM selection, agentic application architecture, RAG systems, prompt engineering standards, and evaluation frameworks.
• Architect and implement AI capabilities for natural-language transformation generation, integration configuration, data quality detection, and intelligent validation.
• Lead a team of AI engineers while remaining deeply hands-on and partnering with the Heads of Engineering and Design.
• Design reliable AI pipeline architecture for Agno-orchestrated workflows.
• Establish production evaluation, monitoring, continuous improvement, and model drift detection practices.
• Define responsible AI standards for accuracy, auditability, explainability, and human-in-the-loop controls in financial services.

Requirements

• 3+ years of AI/ML engineering experience and 5+ years in a product development environment.
• Player-coach experience leading teams while remaining technically hands-on.
• Expert Python proficiency and deep production experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, agentic systems, and evaluation frameworks.
• Production experience with Agno, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or comparable agentic frameworks.
• Experience with Temporal, Prefect, or Airflow, plus Azure or AWS.
• Experience with vector databases and embedding systems, and active daily use of AI coding assistants.

Nice to have

• Financial services, fintech, or other regulated-industry experience.
• MLOps and large-scale model deployment experience.
• Experience fine-tuning open-source LLMs for domain-specific tasks.
• Publications, conference talks, or open-source AI contributions.
• Experience building AI features for data tools, analytics platforms, or enterprise SaaS products.
