Senior Engineer - Applied AI

What you will do

• Identify and prioritize business processes suitable for AI automation, intelligent workflows, and agent-based systems.
• Architect, build, deploy, and operate production AI solutions for automation, document intelligence, decision support, and intelligent assistants.
• Design agentic workflows that orchestrate tools, APIs, reasoning steps, and business logic at scale.
• Develop foundational voice, chat, text, email, and contact center experiences for sales, service, and claims operations.
• Use knowledge graphs to improve reasoning, entity relationships, context retrieval, and multi-step workflows.
• Partner with product, engineering, operations, and analytics teams; mentor engineers and scientists; and influence architecture and engineering practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering or applied machine learning experience, including 1+ year with Generative AI or LLM-based systems in production.
• Strong Python experience and hands-on knowledge of LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and OpenAI or Anthropic APIs.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production AI systems, including agentic workflows and intelligent automation.
• Understanding of agent architectures, workflow orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and knowledge graph integration.
• Strong distributed systems, service design, performance optimization, reliability, security, and maintainability skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with domain-tuned LLMs, vector reasoning, specialized retrieval architectures, or complex ontology design.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.
• Experience deploying AI components in Java ecosystems, including Spring AI, LangChain4j, or Embabel.
• Knowledge of AI safety, evaluation, monitoring, governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience communicating complex technical topics to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
