Sr. Staff Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; based at the NYC office with in-office attendance required Tuesday through Thursday each week

Salary: $230,000–$270,000 annual base salary, plus equity and potential variable compensation.

What you will do

• Define and drive the AI platform strategy, including shared infrastructure, evaluation frameworks, internal libraries, and guardrails.
• Lead high-leverage projects that expand AI capabilities and partner with product teams to ship customer-facing AI features to production.
• Develop and operate LLM systems using prompt engineering, agentic workflows, online and offline validation, automated monitoring, and human-in-the-loop oversight.
• Partner with legal, compliance, product, and engineering leadership to deliver AI functionality responsibly within a regulated financial services environment.
• Make build-versus-buy decisions and establish technical processes that support multiple teams.
• Mentor and grow senior engineers while working hands-on across full-stack systems.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in LLM systems, including prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and evaluation systems.
• Experience operating AI features in production with strong quality, auditability, and monitoring practices.
• Proven experience leading projects that affect multiple teams and development workflows.
• Full-stack development experience with React, GraphQL, and one or more server-side languages such as Ruby, Java, TypeScript, C#, or Python.
• Ability to establish technical strategy, collaborate across disciplines, and balance delivery speed with customer quality and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work from the NYC office Tuesday through Thursday each week.
