Power Electronics Electrical Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas; Boston, Massachusetts; or San Diego, California

Salary: $81,456–$122,184 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Own power electronics designs connected to X-BAT system performance and flight-test milestones.
• Contribute to the full hardware lifecycle, from concept development and modeling through prototyping, verification, integration, and flight-test support.
• Design and analyze low- and high-voltage systems, including DC-DC converters, inverters, motor controllers, battery systems, power distribution, and protection circuits.
• Optimize systems ranging from below 1 kW to above 10 kW for efficiency, thermal constraints, EMI/EMC performance, and reliability.
• Perform PCB collaboration, board bring-up, debugging, root-cause analysis, and validation with laboratory test equipment.
• Support environmental, stress, and qualification testing while collaborating with mechanical, embedded, software, production, and aircraft teams.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong fundamentals in circuits, electronics, and power systems.
• Hands-on experience with power electronics through coursework, labs, clubs, internships, or projects.
• Familiarity with electrical design tools such as Altium or KiCad.
• Experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, and related laboratory equipment.
• Participation in an engineering team, club, or hands-on project; ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.
