TL;DR
Quality Inspector I, Production Floor, Second Shift (Aerospace): Conducting in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies for the Terran R rocket with an accent on dimensional inspection, hardware requirements, and non-conformance documentation. Focus on using precision tools and borescopes, performing FOD inspections, and improving quality processes across design, manufacturing, and production teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite production-floor role on the second shift, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. PT.

Salary: $21.60–$32.40 USD per hour, plus a 10% shift differential and 10 guaranteed overtime hours per week.

What you will do

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform dimensional inspections of flight hardware using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other precision hand tools.
  • Review hardware requirements, determine pass/fail status, and document non-conformances and deviations.
  • Take closeout photos of large integrated assemblies during final walkdowns.
  • Use borescopes to inspect machined parts and assembly cavities for foreign object debris.
  • Identify process improvements and support quality initiatives with design engineering, manufacturing, and production teams.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of quality inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment supporting production hardware.
  • Proficiency with precision inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, and bore gages.
  • Experience with MRB processes, including identification, documentation, and disposition of non-conforming hardware.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements and communicate inspection findings clearly.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice to have

  • Experience inspecting COPVs or avionics hardware, including electrical connectors, harnesses, and integrated assemblies.
  • Experience leading quality improvement projects or influencing initiatives without formal authority.
  • Ability to organize ambiguous or previously undefined environments.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
