What you will do

  • Lead the design and testing of Terran R mechanisms, including stage separation, payload deployment, aero control features, and landing gear.
  • Own the full design cycle from concept development and trade studies through analysis, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Define design criteria and subsystem requirements and review load inputs, material properties, and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with structures, avionics, fluids, vehicle design, test, loads, additive, and manufacturing teams.
  • Integrate mechanisms into printed primary structures and support development of the additive manufacturing process.
  • Lead technical discussions and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in full-cycle design engineering, including CAD, analysis, build, and test.
  • Knowledge of kinematic synthesis, pneumatic and hydraulic actuation, mechatronics, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of structural strength, stability, fatigue failure modes, manufacturing processes, materials, and surface treatments.
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving ability and hands-on hardware build experience.
  • Strong communication skills for leading discussions on complex technical topics.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of aerospace experience or an advanced engineering degree.
  • Experience with launch vehicle mechanisms and multibody dynamics analysis.
  • Experience with NX, TeamCenter, Ansys, Femap, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Hands-on fabrication and prototyping experience, including machining, 3D printing, welding, or woodworking.
