Focus on identifying failure mechanisms, translating technical risk into design decisions, and building reliability processes for human-capable lunar hardware.

Salary: $137,000–$196,000 per year

What you will do
- Lead FMEA for avionics, RF, and power systems and drive design changes that prevent failures.
- Architect avionics design standards, test methodologies, design criteria, requirements, and verification approaches.
- Own change and risk reviews, translating technical risk and impact into actionable decisions.
- Flow reliability requirements to hardware, including margins, screening levels, and derating guidelines.
- Develop analysis tools, review templates, reliability checklists, and design guides.
- Mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and stronger reliability processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.
- 5+ years of experience designing and analyzing hardware for space, automotive, or other high-reliability systems.
- Experience designing, integrating, testing, or operating space vehicles or other large, complex systems.
- Experience with reliability engineering methods such as FMEA, accelerated testing, and Weibull analysis.
- Experience with EEE parts, PCBAs, avionics units, RF components, and wire harnesses.
- Experience applying derating, Sneak Circuit Analysis, Worst-Case Circuit Analysis, Design for Excellence, requirements flow-down, or Physics of Failure methodologies.
Nice to have
- 8+ years of experience in design reliability for spacecraft, launch vehicles, aircraft, robotics, or other complex hardware.
- Experience creating engineering standards, review templates, or technical guidance frameworks.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, materials selection, and hardware qualification pathways.
- Experience with fracture control, human-rated hardware standards, or similar reliability frameworks.
