Principal Architect (AI)

Location: TX-Remote

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 per year, plus annual incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy, roadmaps, standards, and design principles across cloud, data, integrations, and applications.
• Lead solution design and architectural decisions across Engineering, Data, Product, Security, and Clinical Operations.
• Build reference implementations, complex integrations, and proofs of concept while helping teams modernize legacy systems.
• Lead architecture and governance for AI, machine learning, LLM integrations, agentic workflows, and clinical decision-support tools.
• Design population health data platforms, lakehouse architectures, source-of-truth strategies, and longitudinal patient data infrastructure.
• Set direction for HL7 FHIR, event-driven integrations, API gateways, messaging, distributed systems, reliability, observability, and interoperability.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive software or enterprise architecture experience, including at least 5 years as a senior or principal architect.
• Demonstrated healthcare technology experience with health plan data, payer/provider integrations, or population health platforms.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native data architecture, Snowflake, data lakehouse patterns, data modeling, and governance.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, event streaming, API-first design, and HL7 FHIR.
• Production experience governing AI/ML architectures, LLM-based systems, agentic workflows, and responsible AI frameworks.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; microservices, serverless systems, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, and .NET, Python, or TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare security and compliance, including HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2.

Nice to have

• Experience in employer-sponsored or value-based care organizations.
• Experience with Athena Health, Salesforce Clouds, Snowflake Cortex, dbt, NetSuite, or Workday integrations.
• Experience with health plan channel partnerships and commercial payers.
• Experience in a private-equity-backed, high-growth healthcare technology environment.
• Experience communicating AI strategy at board or executive level.
