Staff / Principal Forward-Deployed Architect (AI Healthcare Data)

Location: United States — Remote; requires 25–35% travel to healthcare client sites for kickoffs, discovery sessions, on-site working weeks, milestones, and pre-sales.

Salary: $190,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the cross-platform reference architecture for modern data platforms across Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Lead engagement architecture, design reviews, and hands-on implementation of the most complex technical components.
• Run technical discovery with health system partners and design target states for EHR, FHIR, SFTP, and legacy data environments.
• Lead Senior Data Engineers and a Cloud/Platform Engineer while reviewing IaC, ingestion patterns, data-sharing topology, and security controls.
• Partner with engagement and field leadership to scope statements of work, defend timelines, and manage technical risk.
• Represent the practice in pre-sales discussions with CTOs, CDOs, CISOs, and enterprise architects; maintain playbooks and reusable accelerators.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years in data engineering, data platform architecture, or solutions architecture, with technical leadership of multi-person teams.
• Production experience with at least two of Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric, plus the ability to own the third platform.
• Three or more enterprise lakehouse or cloud data platform implementations in regulated industries.
• Deep Azure and cloud infrastructure expertise, including networking, identity, key management, Terraform or Bicep, and observability.
• Healthcare data and compliance fluency, including Epic Clarity/Caboodle, Cogito on Cloud, Bulk FHIR, HL7, claims data, CDC, HIPAA/HITRUST, PHI segmentation, BAA scope, and audit posture.

Nice to have

• Experience in a Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric professional services or field engineering organization.
• Experience with Delta Sharing, Snowflake Reader Accounts, Fabric External Sharing, or Iceberg shortcuts.
• Background in healthcare consulting or a large IDN data platform team.
